Perinatal Leadership Forum Is Now Virtual!

LMI will conducting a Pre-Conference on Perinatal Scheduling, Staffing and Budget Management in the Face of COVID-19 (Half day AM). Please Visit

COVID-19 has turned the world of Peri-Natal staffing and scheduling upside down and we are struggling to prepare for a “new normal” in a post pandemic world.  Balancing your budget, maintaining accurate position controls, creating schedules, and maintaining your staffing levels has become increasingly challenging in the face of COVID-19.

This presentation will share strategies for “Staffing in the Eye of the Storm” (aka COVID-19), as well as best practices for budgeting, scheduling, and staffing for Peri-Natal Nurse Leaders.  This presentation will help nurse leaders to understand the relationship between the FTE budget, schedule, and the staffing plan.  All components need to work together effectively to succeed with utilization of resources, department goals and patient safety.

Budgeting, Scheduling & Staffing best practices represent the plan to design and deliver the human resources to provide safe care to the peri-natal population, including: a balanced schedule, skill mix, education, and replacement of paid and unpaid absence.  Exercises will be shared throughout the program, and virtual breakout rooms will be utilized for smaller group discussion.

Peri-Natal Nurse Leaders equipped with financial knowledge and tools have the capacity to strategically guide the delivery of care for their unit(s).   Understanding how budgeting, scheduling, and staffing best practices work together positions nursing leaders to be successful in COVID and Non-COVID times.
