Labor Management Institute, Inc. has designed and executed research studies in a variety of areas related to scheduling, staffing and labor management.  Annually, we conduct the Perspectives in Staffing & Scheduling (PSS™) Annual Survey of Hours National Benchmark© which focuses on The Direct RN H/UOS, Total Direct H/UOS, Indirect H/UOS and Total Worked H/UOS.

In the Special COVID-19 Edition PSS™ Annual Survey of Hours Report© there are some differences in the way the content is presented to allow for comparisons.

*We include Average Length of Stay by Unit type and Hospital Type, Adverse Patient Outcomes (Medication Errors and Patient Falls) by Unit Type and Hospital Type.  We include RN specific questions such as age, education and ratios. We include detailed ratios for RNs, LPN/LVNs, NAs, and CNS’ by unit type.  We report on non-unit-based educators in addition to questions on nurse manager span of control and other elements reflective of the 2004 Institute of Medicine’s “Keeping Patients Safe” report recommendations. We examine additional elements pertinent to schedule preparation and degree of automation, overtime, deficit demands and response.

*The above content has been excluded from the Special COVID-19 Edition PSS™ Annual Survey of Hours Report©, it will return in the 33rd Edition PSS™ Annual Survey of Hours Report©
